October Newsletter

Here’s the latest scoop from the Georgia Festival of Trees!

We can hardly believe that it is October. The weather is changing, and the holidays will soon be upon us. We have been working non-stop on the Festival since early January and are confident that this year will be bigger and better!
Tickets are selling early this year and the community is excited to see all the Christmas cheer we have to offer! We will need a lot of help to the prepare, set up, and run the festival. It is a labor of love that can only be accomplished by an amazing group like you!
Be sure to head to our volunteer portal and sign up for your preferred shifts. Many departments are filling fast! Go to InItLive to explore our portal and find the perfect volunteer opportunity.
We look forward to serving with you!

We are pleased to share another “My Story”, a personal testimony from participants and graduates of Wellspring Living. (Please Note: All names have been changed.)

“Erika, 16, came to the Receiving Hope Center after being rescued in a sting operation. Erika had run away from home to a city across the state with other teenagers. Once there, she did not have the freedom she thought she would. She fell into the hands of a trafficker and was exploited night after night until her rescue.

At first, Erika did not recognize her risky behaviors were serious and was not honest about her past. She was withdrawn and skeptical of the staff.

Now, after several weeks in treatment, Erika is effectively communicating with her aunt, her primary caregiver, without arguing and enjoys both school and therapy. Erika said she feels supported by staff and her therapist and recently shared that she loves being at the Receiving Hope Center and truly feels like this is the best place for her to be.”

Sponsor Spotlight

For the second year since the event’s 2021 revival, Atlanta Gas Light will sponsor the annual Georgia Festival of Trees.

As the popular holiday event’s presenting sponsor, Atlanta Gas Light will partner with the Georgia Festival of Trees to support the event’s beneficiary, Wellspring Living, which provides specialized recovery services for domestic sex trafficking survivors.

The winter and holiday season is a time of warmth and celebration, but for thousands of individuals affected by domestic sex-trafficking in metro Atlanta the idea of a warm, safe, and hopeful holiday could not be further from reality. Atlanta Gas Light is proud to provide natural gas warmth every winter and holiday season and to support the Georgia Festival of Trees’ mission to benefit Wellspring Living.

Atlanta Gas Light provides clean, safe, reliable, and affordable natural gas delivery service to approximately 1.7 million customers in Georgia. Atlanta Gas Light’s field employees are uniquely positioned to support the fight against human trafficking. Since they are often required to work within homes and businesses, field employees are trained on how to identify potential human trafficking scenarios and report them to local authorities.

Together with the Georgia Festival of Trees, Atlanta Gas Light supports Wellspring Living in providing transformative care that yields positive, life-changing results for trafficking survivors.
